Meet Prince, our new kitty cat. She is nine years old and she belongs to my sister. A couple of weeks ago my sister asked me if we would take her and give her a good home. Although I completely disagree with the reasons and would only ask someone to take care of my pets permanently if I were dead (don’t worry, I told my sister all of this)…how could I say no to an unwanted pet who is a member of the family?
It's been a little bumpy but after a little over a week, she is getting adjusted.
We always thought she was a sweet cat when we would visit my sister. Her only fault is that she likes to chew cords so we have to be careful.
She has six toes on each foot and I'm still getting used to her "thumb" flexing when she asks you to pet her with her paw in the air.
Clone is totally interested and I hope to get a picture of them together…well kind of together. She doesn’t want him near her. He persists and she kind of just lets it go after a little while. When Charley, our dog, gets near her, she hisses just like she does to Clone. Even with all of this, she seems to have relaxed little by little since she arrived a little over a week ago.
Since we lost Cinder and Roswell, it’s been void of female pets around here and I have to admit, it’s nice to have a female around again. I know Curtis feels the same way. We’re hoping that Clone and her will be able to get along and hopefully they will become his buddies.
We bought a bunch of cord covers and I already told my sister she’s paying for those.
Deep down, I know they miss each other and it was really hard at first for Prince, we’re really hoping it will work out and she can stay with us permanently (we always said it’s contingent on Clone’s reaction since he’s our Prozac kitty). As for the cost of caring for Prince, my sister has promised to cover all of her expenses for the rest of her life and I’m going to hold her to that!
And I had to get a picture of Charley, this was when he was watching Prince, he has been completely interested in her. He's going to be 8 years old next month and I just can't believe how gray he has gotten!

Awwwwww, I love Prince’s little mouth in that first photo. Great coloring. She does look a bit cautious, but I think cats are like that more than happy-go-lucky dogs.
Congrats on the new addition, Julie!

Oh how lovely! It’s nice that YOU were able to take Prince instead of her going to a shelter. I hope her and Clone become friends soon!

It was nice of you take your sister’s cat even if you do like the reasons. I probably wouldn’t have, because one dog in the house is more then enough for us. It IS pretty awesome that she has agreed to still pay for everything Prince-related.

What a beautiful girl! You know I feel exactly as you do about rehoming, but I would do the same thing you did if it came down to it. I hope things work out (our Vinny was a prozac kitty too) and they all will live happily ever after together!
Katie, yes I know exactly how you feel and I feel the same way. I hope it works out too. I think about you all the time, Katie. I hope today is a good day.
I tend to acquire cats that need “temporary” care… but then they never leave. They are family though!

Julie, you’re a really good person for taking in a pet that someone else could/would no longer keep (for any reason!). I’m crossing my fingers that Prince is accepted into your pet family so you can all coexist together forever!
I also just looked at your post on losing a pet. We had a dog named Cinders (short for Cinderella – she was a big black lab/german shepherd mix) when I was growing up. We lost her when I was 20, and I still miss her every day. I actually couldn’t read your whole post because it made me too sad, both for you and for me…As much as losing pets hurts, they bring so much to our lives, it’s all for the best.

She’s beautiful! I hope she continues to relax and start to feel at ease with the existing pets. No matter what anyone says, pets really do add to the whole family dynamic
Thanks for sharing her with us!

What a pretty kitty… and you are so sweet to care for an unwanted animal. We are in a similar situation with three of our dogs. We were asked to watch them for two weeks and that was a year ago, they have been abandoned.
I love your dog, he is so beautiful. I’m glad that they are all getting a long, it takes a little while, but as long as there is love in the house, it should be fine.
