Day 2 – Tampa 3-Day for the Cure

October 30, 2010 · 4 comments

Day two started out great, I was mostly feeling good. I did walk 20 miles yesterday. 🙂 My feet were a little sore as the day went on. I took a longer break at Pit Stop #2 because my feet were really bothering me. I thought I had the start of some blisters but it turns out, they were just really sore. Having done 5.7 miles, the slow down started. I made it a little over 8 miles and took the SAG bus to lunch. After a couple of more miles, I took a sweep van to the Pit Stop #4 and finished with a total of 15.21 miles (that’s what my walkmeter app said).

I was a little disappointed in having to take two sweep buses but I was really hurting and was worried about finishing tomorrow. All of the sweep vans have a different theme. The drivers and assistants all dress up accordingly to their theme. Above is a picture of one but not the one I took. I even got a pin for riding the van.

I said on facebook, BioFreeze has been my friend this weekend. I’m slathering it on, it has really helped me feel a little bit better after I get back into camp. One of the Medical Tent nurses told me to put it on when I’m done and once again after I shower. Last night, I forgot to put it on after my shower so I put it on right before bed…big mistake because it was windy last night and my legs were cold for hours! 🙂

Along with the amazing and hard-working crew, there have countless mini cheering stations along the way like the one pictured below. They are cheering you on, smiling, high-fiving you and handing out water, candy, Popsicles, you name it. Thank you to all of these people…you help me Keep Going.

This picture says it all. This breast cancer survivor looked so young. I wanted to ask her how old she is but didn’t want to be rude.

Day 3 tomorrow…looking forward to finishing and the closing ceremonies. Thanks again for all of the support…texts, fb comments and tweets. They have definitely helped!

I’ll have to look into this bio freeze stuff! I need to start packing my bags and am trying to remember everything I’ll need.

The medical tents in Tampa at the pit stops and at camp had samples of BioFreeze and that’s what I used. 🙂 I heard it’s hard to find and you might have to buy it online. Good luck with your walk, hope training is going well, Rhea and thanks for your support!

15+ miles on day 2 after 20 miles on day one is amazing! I bet not a lot of women were able to do even that much.

You did an awesome job!! I didn’t even get to walk at all day 2! Yes, Biofreeze is AWESOME! I bought some stuff afterwards that’s pretty comparable.
