Day 1 – Tampa 3-Day for the Cure

October 29, 2010 · 6 comments

It’s been an amazing day! I can’t even describe all of it to you. It started with me crying before and during the opening ceremonies. For the opening ceremonies, different participants are asked to carry these wonderful flags on stage…I was backstage when I took the pictures below.

When I took this picture, I started crying. These are the reasons why I walk.

It’s hard not to get emotional when thinking about what my grandmother and friend went through while going through chemotherapy treatment, I’m so thankful that they are SURVIVORS today.

Walking was great because I got adopted by the Caymanites early on. A wonderful team of women from the Cayman Islands. They are one of the top 10 fundraisers. They are an awesome group. I hope I get to walk with them tomorrow!!!

Me with the Energizer Bunny after 19.3 miles. I'm sweaty, sticky and tired but still smiling. :D

I wanted to leave you with one last picture, I did post it on facebook and twitter today but this sign this woman is holding just says it all. Why we walk. I’ll try to write more tomorrow night. I’m running out of time and it’s dark.

Thank you for all of the love and encouragement on facebook and twitter…keep it comin’. Tomorrow is going to be hard but I’ll Keep Going…

Hey Julie,
I am so sorry that we did not hook up with you again on the walk. You are still an honourary Caymanite! Thanks for the kind words!
Tina from Cayman.

I think that all of you ladies who do the 3-day are amazing women! I did the Avon 2 day a few years ago and you’re right, it’s so emotional. But it’s so worth it!
